About EDL
Electricity Direct Ltd (EDL) was initially set up in 1999 to provide electricity to residents at Princes Wharf.
The business was purchased in 2005 and the new owners identified an opportunity to provide lower cost utilities to residents in other residential and commercial buildings.
EDL has embarked on a expansion program to include other buildings in Auckland and other parts of New Zealand, made possible through its active involvement in the New Zealand electricity and gas markets.
EDL currently manages utility services in customer networks by invoicing electricity, water, gas and internet, often on the same invoice.
We also manage several sites with hot and cold water, invoicing them on behalf of their Bodies Corporate.
Being a small retailer means EDL can provide flexible energy and billing solutions the other larger retailers find difficult to match.
EDL maintains a multilingual call-centre that can quickly react to customer requests and special needs.
These back office services are provided by our energy partner Smart Power.
The major customer benefits have been hassle free connections over the phone, and consolidation of electricity, water and, where available, gas on the same monthly utility invoice.
Electricity Direct is a registered Electricity Market Participant, and is a member of Utilities Disputes. Utilities Disputes offers a free independent disputes resolution process, and can be contacted on 0800 22 33 40 or via www.utilitiesdisputes.co.nz.
